Blogging in my mind...

So I've figured something out. I like to blog and would do it more often but can't seem to fit it into my schedule. Ya see I could fit it into my schedule but I like to do everything well sorta type A if you will, and so I go through my day and I do things and the kids do things and I even take pictures and as I do it all I think to myself " oh that was so cute, this is how I'll blog that" but then alas something happens and I can't do it the way that I would like so I just don't blog at all! So.....drum roll.....My New Years resolution is to blog just short and sweet and more often. Of course resolutions are meant to be broken, right? Oh well we'll see how it goes! Here's a little peek at what we've been up too since we last chatted... Aubrie turned 11!! Can you believe it "11"! Emma had a wonderful winter chorus performance. She loves to sing and has such a pretty voice.Aubrie had her winter orchestra performance. She is in her second year of flute with the elementary school orchestra and was just accepted into honors orchestra where she will get to play with kids from the whole district, so she is looking forward to that. We also did some baking/sampling for conference. Papa and G'ma Staggs came and there was lots of book reading, game playing and tons of snuggle time. We also took our annual pre-conference trek to the desert. The weather was nice and the pools were lovely. The kids have such a great time out there they come home chapped with dried out skin and hair reeking of chlorine. Ahh memories in the making.... After conference Greg & I with lots of help from many others hosted the post conference beach party at Zuma Beach. It was the windiest day I think that I have ever spent at the beach. But you try telling a couple a hundred young people that we're gonna cancel due to the weather. They don't care what the weather is like they want to be together and they've traveled many a mile to go home with the story that they went to the beach in So. California over winter break. And so "Onward Ho" and the Lord blessed and a great day was had by all. The Conner cousins were out for conference(they brought their parents too) so we got to spend some quality time with cousin Kait. In-N-Out at the park, shopping, game playing, brownies at midnight, hiking in our beautiful hills, the list goes on and on... Oh and a huge highlight for the kids... no really....for the kids...at least while they are awake... we got a Nintendo WII! I think that this thing counts as a workout...well at least I like to tell myself that.Oh yeah...and...we TRIED to have company. I say tried because we gave the invite... they excepted and we got ready. However right before they were to be at our door the phone rings... and low and behold they were caught in what LA is known for.... traffic! I don't know who was more disappointed them or us! I would say that we got the better end of the deal however as we still got to eat and they came to Gospel on an empty stomach. Sorry Knittery ..... maybe next year! And last but not least we had a wonderful new years eve celebration over at the Widholms. Good hymn sing, good talk, good food and great friends. So I guess that about wraps up the year 2007 for the Carys. Well ... hopefully we'll be talkin' to ya again real soon. We'll see how resolutions work for me..Hee hee hee!

What a wonderful day...

Thanksgiving has come and gone and what wonderful memories we have to look back on. Another Thanksgiving spent with our family and friends. Another year of silly, fun, memorable traditions with our kids. We started a "new tradition" this year....we go out to dinner as a family the night before. I don't know that you could really call it a tradition but it was nice to not have to make dinner when I was already in crazy cook mode. It was also nice to go out all together instead of just Greg taking the kids to get them out of my hair, while I appreciate that I sometimes feel like I miss out. Anyway....ramble, ramble, ramble! So then Greg read the cute little book "Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving" to the kids while I worked on my yams. Then off to bed. We woke up in the morning to a beautiful day! It was bright and sunny but cool and crisp definitely Thanksgiving weather. ( My first year in So. Cal. it was in the 90's on Thanksgiving and I just couldn't really enjoy the day...Ok, I cried...so needless to say whenever it is cool on Thanksgiving here I now rejoice!) So anyway....cook, cook, cook, clean, bathe, dress, do a bunch of little heads of hair and we were ready to go. Caleb and Lisa have very kindly made our family a part of theirs over the years and we love our cozy Thanksgivings out in the country for the Cary/Conner Thanksgiving. Over the years we have added to our little group so that it now includes Phil & Lou Saint-Vincent and Les & Mariann Williams. So along with our wonderful food we had great company. We spent the day inside, outside, upside down with a wonderful fire and kids running round. (Ok I know that's silly but it just fit!) We ended the day at prayer meeting and I'll confess sometimes it seems like all you can do to make it out the door to meeting on Thanksgiving night but ya know I can't think of a better place to be then on our knees giving thanks to the Lord on Thanksgiving day. So until next year that about wraps up our Thanksgiving. Hope you all had as wonderful a day as we did!

Hello Again

Ok, so.... since I last posted... ya know... forever ago! We have done 5million and one things! I am so impressed with all of you who post so often! I'm gonna try to be a little more consistent...try being the operative word. So anyway...my parents came for a visit( so fun...the kids love to have all their grandparents close), I had my B-Day, we had the Sunday School Picnic ( Greg's booths were a huge success), Emma had a piano recital, Emma had her 9th birthday though the party is still to come, we went to San Diego and spent the weekend with Bill & Ava, Natalie & Madeline Warr ( and had a marvelous time I might add ), while in San Diego we also took the time to visit Legoland knowing that it may be the last time that this amusement park would fit the needs/age range of our brood. It was a beautiful day and great fun was had by all. Along the way I have managed with the doctors help and the prayers of many to finally get over my crazy bout of bronchitis. Whew...for awhile there I felt like I wasn't gonna make it! I have never coughed so hard in my life. I am so thankful that no one else here has gotten sick! Whew! Well that about hits the highlights of the last few weeks, I say that I'm going to try to post more but we'll see how that really goes...it gets a little crazy around here between Thanksgiving( my most favorite holiday that I am totally looking forward to) and conference at the end of the year. So until next time.....Adios

Finally a post from my crazy life...

OK so here is the deal ... I have been fighting this crazy cold for a little over a month now and after much prodding from friends I finally went in to see the doc'. And well it appears that they were right! I have a really bad case of bronchitis and he said if left it would have probably gone into pneumonia! So needless to say I really haven't felt like doing the extra things (like blogging) for awhile. But now I'm on some antibiotics and feeling a little better so I'll try to catch ya all up. So our life has been pretty routine school, work, meeting life's just been movin' along. Let's see since I last posted we made raspberry jam (umm...yes very late in the season, but yummy),I got a fabuloso tote from my dear friend Wendy who just makes the most adorable purses ever (thanks Wendy), Brock and I went to Disneyland for our friend Lauren's 3 year old B-Day (that was on one of my good days), Greg has been working like a mad person on the game booths for the SS treat (they look so great I think the kids are going to love them) and the girls...well they go to school. School, school and more school! They are all doing great though and I think really enjoying their classes. Aubrie has the first man teacher she has ever had and really likes him he's such a gentle person (she got the first citizenship award of the year). Emma has a new teacher to the school this year and they seem to fit like a glove! Whew! Hannah's teacher is....well I'm not sure the jury is still out on that one but it seems to be going OK. Hannah likes to react to kids who are being naughty but that gets her into trouble too with a not very understanding teacher of 6 year olds. Anyway time will tell, she does seem to be enjoying going to school for a full day and her class just sang at the monthly assembly which the ham bone loved. So anyway that about wraps it up, hopefully I'll post again sooner rather then later!

A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words

Ok so this picture may not look like much but the story behind it was too cute not to post. So Brock is sitting there looking at his grubby, dirty little boy foot when all of the sudden with wonder in his voice he says "Mom look at this!" I walk over expecting a sliver or some such thing when he says " look mom I see one of the special shapes that the Lord Jesus used to make me". And when I looked he was looking at the lines on the bottom of his foot and one made a triangle. He proceeded to tell me that there must have been a triangle in the box when the Lord dumped it out to build him. Ha ha I guess maybe we need to be a little more specific when we say what the Lord made and how He did it!

A Rainy Fall Weekend

So my kids and I love, love, love rainy fall weather so when we heard that it was supposed to rain on Friday we were so excited. However the rain came in the night and we were bummed. Greg kindly reminded us that we should be thankful for the rain that we got. So since the rain had departed we decided to go to the little local fair on Saturday after lunch but.....after lunch our so loved rain decided to come down in buckets! It was amazing how fast we changed from wanting the rain to wanting it to go away. Are we ever satisfied? Anyway we were feeling bad for the kids that even though we were getting our rain we were now missing the fair. So Greg lit a fire and I ran to the store ( in the pouring rain ) and we had dinner then sat around the fire and made s'mores in the rain that we again loved, loved, loved!

A Work in Progress...My Red Wall

Forever I have wanted a red wall in my house....anywhere....any wall...I just knew that I would love a bright splash of color somewhere. After much thought I decided that it should be a dining room wall, now all I had to do was talk the husband into it. So after much persuasion he is painting my wall. It looks fabulouso! After I have my new curtains up I will have to post a finished pic but here it is for now

I think I feel fall in the air .....well maybe!

Well summer is over and the kids are back in school. The acorns are dropping and the squirrels are back so now I'm dying for fall. However today is going to be a mere 95 degrees ugh!! I think I'll crank up the air, light some candles that smell fallish, drink a pumpkin latte and close my eyes and use my imagination. I see trees...with bright colored leaves swirling to the ground... Ahhh... just one of the things I miss about Washington!

Let the blogging begin....

Ok so here goes...I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm gonna try.
